Donald Trump has once again reared his bizarre head.
It’s really a little hard to figure out what’s more puzzling, how people could find appeal in Donald Trump or finding any significant appeal in the man himself.
His recent foray into politics, with the “come-on” that he might run for President of the United States is best reflected in the very serious public policy issue he raised?
Was Barak Obama truly born in the USA?
For goodness sake, even many of the Tea Party folks are embarrassed by those in their fringe, lunatic, wing-who thinks the issue is not whether Obama is a socialist- but whether he is an American?
Donald in case you missed it; Factcheck, run by the Universities of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg Public Policy Center has printed a copy of Barak Obama’s birth certificate. The only issue one could have is that it’s an official copy from the State of Hawaii’s birth records, not the actual one given to his mother a couple days after his birth. Who cares? Who cares if his original one was lost? The State Department doesn’t care which one you show them when you get a U.S passport, a state Registry of Motor Vehicle doesn’t care which one you show when you get a driver’s license, the U.S military doesn’t care which version you present when you enlist?
You know who cares about the difference between the original and an officially issued copy of a birth certificate – basically no one. No one who doesn’t have their own agenda. No one who allows the stream of information called knowledge to influence their views.
Even the Donald himself doesn’t care. Trump may be extremely narrow minded but he is not dense. The fact that he knows the issue is a canard demonstrates just what a phony he is, as if his hairdo wasn’t sufficient proof.
Donald Trump represents the very worst excesses we exhibit in our American public soul. He will do virtually anything to promote himself and get richer. He has no inner integrity or breaks that say “I can’t do that just to promote and enrich myself, even if it works, because it’s too crass and anti-social.” The Donald thinks that you can say or do anything to get more business, to get richer . Why people don’t find this man distasteful is a mystery to me, I’m sure it’s the same reason they don’t find Jerry Springer disgraceful.
Donald Trump only lives for money and self promotion. He balances no ethical or humanistic concerns with his quest for personal success. His public policy platform is that we shouldn’t tax the super rich too much because they will simply give up their American citizenship and move to another country. He assures us he knows these people, who I guess his friends, and that they will give up their U.S. citizenship. What a guy. What a political platform?
President Obama in his speech last night laid out when the U.S. will militarily act alone- unilaterally- to protect vital American interests or protect U.S. Citizens, or alternatively, when the U.S. should only act with others- multilaterally- like in Libya, in the case of stopping genocide, for humanitarian reasons, regional security or to protect U.S. economic interests. This was an important clarification of foreign policy principle. The Donald’s retort: “who does OPEC think they are to create a cartel to have power over the price of oil? Who does NATO think they are, as we pay so much of their budget? Who does the world think it is requiring our involvement? Who does President Obama think he is by being both too strong by wasting our money on Libya and being too weak by not doing the job ourselves without help from anyone else?” Not quite a strategic, comprehensive philosophy or strategy The Donald offers, but political point making based on emotional appeal to everyone’s frustrations with dealing with the world as it is.
Oh and when the Donald criticizes President Obama for playing golf to unwind, I know that he’s on top of the issues that count, in typical fair-minded, stand up guy Trump style.
He also seems to have quite an attitude towards women, apparently seeing them primarily as an object of desire. For Donald Trump, that actually is consistent; for him there is little worth to anything unless it’s an object of his own desire.
Donald Trump, quite the character, though with none himself. Trump that Donald.
